First off, apologies for the short-notice, wanted to make sure we could run this before I organised anything....

We're hoping for Hurley on 2 or 3 Gates... please check back here if levels are higher.

Details

TVF's 3rd Birthday Party Event
Saturday 10th April 2010,
Hurley Weir
10am (at the weir/SAS bank)

Register on the day (but please indicate interest here)

To celebrate the 3rd Birthday of TVF, we're organising a small informal gathering with a series of little challenges/competitions for hopefully everyone to get involved with and take part and most importantly enjoy and have fun. The Biggest Smile always wins!

The Comps will be as followed....

Freestyle in Pairs - We want to see some synchronised blunts/loops and spins
Big Boat Freestyle – Bring down the creekboat and lets see some big boat cartwheeling and loops.
King of the wave – 2 minutes, who can be on the wave when the whistle blows?
Knock-out comp – You've got 30seconds to get on the wave and do the trick/move to get through to the next round (The trick depends on your skill/experience)
Old-gits Comp – Details tbc

And hopefully some more comps and awards for 'special' moments, details to follow....

This is not meant to be formal and you're free to just turn up at the weir and paddle as you normally would but we're hoping everyone wants to get involved. If anyone wants to volunteer to help out on the day please drop me a PM, likewise if you can offer any (cheapy) prizes drop me a PM. We need a judge per event, but we'll

Hopefully there will be some Demo boats available on the day and some form of prizes for the winners... tbc....

Any questions or offers, please get in touch. And please indicate if you're gonna come along and get involved.

See you on the water!!!

Oh and I'm sure after the event once winners have been announced and everyone is dry there will be a mass migration to the local Hurley pub.

Absolutely I'll be there and happy to help if anything is needed! I'm liking the king of the wave competition!

Thanks for doing this Scout, I really appreciate the effort and the shear fact you want to mark the 3rd Birthday of TVF. I unfortunately will not be there, however please please have a great time. I look forward to seeing the photos the videos and hearing the carnage lol

Cheers

Gareth

Sounds brilliant Scout.

Can you maybe find out the postcode for the SAS bank and post it up here for all those who haven't been before?

Just to clarify this event will not be hosted on the SAS side, park in the normal Hurley Car Park, and paddle over the normal way and I'll most likely be on the SAS bank organising or standing on the slab if it's dry enough. Any demo boats will need to be brought down from the Hurley car park.

There will be no official access to the weir, all judging shall take place from the water or from the slab gate, if it is closed.

Just had my first email regarding some prizes so fingers crossed we'll have some to give out!

Nookie have graciously offered some freebies as prizes.... Not that I'm sure any of you needed any motivation ;)

Thanks to Mandy for pointing out I stupidly choose the same day as the weekend of the inter-service training...

Having spoken to Adi and Andy from the services about the weekend they're both happy that there won't be a problem running this event. They choose to have their event on the Monday so it wouldn't get in the way of anyones weekend, and as they say there could be a handful or maybe slightly more there but it should be ok whatever. The plan is to be fairly efficient and get done in a few hours so everyone can get back to their normal paddling.

Hopefully everyone who comes down for any training will be up for joining in the fun, more paddlers on the water means a better day in my books! And maybe we'll have a Services prize as well if we've got enough entering.

Talking of prizes, WWTCC are now supporting the event, so along with Nookie we should have some nice goodies to give out on the day.

It's all informal, there will be multiple events so come along at any time (ideally at the start tho) and i'll fit everyone into something...

I'll put up a list of a rough form of schedule as soon as I can....

If i have a good idea of numbers this will help so please indicate if you're coming on here on the facebook event.
